In the eight plus years that Chantal has been my Realtor, we’ve looked at dozens of single family and multiplex investment opportunities. She has helped me assess and make offers on 10 or more of those. Some needed a bit of work, paint or renewed styling but together we were able to envision the final product which boosted my confidence. I now have a new home, eight positive cash flow units, all positive equity investments. A great deal of it I owe to her real estate intuition, expertise and drive. Our working together didn’t exactly start out on a smooth note. The first place we inspected together was a unit that I had picked and I seriously thought would make great investment. We were there 15 minutes and I was a bit excited about it, I thought the place looked great and wanted to make an offer. She apparently saw how serious I was and politely told that that particular opportunity would not be a smart move. I was head strong and thought I knew better and wanted to try a purchase. She then advised me that I would need to find another realtor. I was a little shocked, she didn’t want to have anything to do with it. Without going into details, her instincts were later proven correct, it would not have been a good move. I wasn’t familiar with the area but I wasn’t a novice, I had purchased real estate before. I suppose some might have been offended by her rejection of a pick, but I fortunately listened. Even though she really didn’t know me, she made a strong case and took a position that was a little surprising. What her actions revealed to me was that she wasn’t out to jump on a quick deal or a quick buck. I had been in contact with different listing agents, all seemed professional and competent and I could have gone with most any of them. This experience however made me realize she was genuine and only wanted to be associated with quality deals. It was at that point I decided I would be better served to stick with her. I later found out she was a caring mom, second generation realtor, broker qualified, and a property investor herself, so she definitely understood the real estate business as well as families needs and what makes a home. A few months later in 2010 Chantal brought forward a great deal on a duplex which she helped me negotiate. This was “our” first property together and since then she’s helped me accumulate over $4M in investments. I owe a great deal of my success to Chantal’s vision and efforts.
