- Park City Mountain (largest ski resort in the U.S.) – 10-15 minutes away (on Epic Pass)
- Deer Valley (skiers only; consistently rated world’s best ski resort; reservations required) – 10-15 minutes away (on Ikon Pass)

Taking I-80 West to Salt Lake City will bring you to additional skiing options. The Great Salt Lake causes a lake effect to these resorts, often resulting in a magnitude of additional snow. The Cottonwood Canyons can get lined up with cars so it’s typically recommended to get there very early in order to beat the crowds and secure your parking spot. If there’s been a recent storm, be sure to check the latest road conditions. Sometimes there can be delays due to avalanche work.
Little Cottonwood Canyon (45 minutes – 1 hour if no traffic)
- Alta (skiers only) – Ikon Pass
- Snowbird (known for advanced terrain) – Ikon Pass
Big Cottonwood Canyon (45 minutes – 1 hour if no traffic)
- Solitude (family & beginner friendly) – Ikon Pass
- Brighton (generally more favorable amongst snowboarders) – Ikon Pass
About an hour or so north of Salt Lake off of Highway 84 West, lies two more amazing ski resorts.
- Snowbasin
- Powder Mountain
In this map, paid by famous ski map painter Jim Niehues, north is located at the bottom and south at the top. Neihues intentionally did this to emphasize and showcase Utah’s many awesome north-facing slopes.
Skiing has become more popular over the years and each resort has slightly different rules when it comes to parking, from different fees (or no fees), to special parking lots and whether parking needs to be reserved or not. Here’s a great guide to Utah ski parking that we recommend you check out. Also, keep in mind, Park City’s high altitude can cause dehydration, so be sure to drink plenty of water while skiing to avoid getting lightheaded or fatigued.
